How I work. The tech fits the business.

You'll probably call me about something specific, like automation, segmentation or a launch. That's where we start, and I'll look at the whole picture of how your business makes money while I'm in there.

The first two weeks.

You'll be more involved at the start, because I'll have a lot of questions about your data.

  1. I get access.

I'll need your email platform, wherever you sell, and wherever the revenue lands, so I can track it. If you have a sales team, I'll want to see how they sell too.

  2. I learn how you make money.

What you've tried, how it went, and what you're doing now. Who you think your customers are, why they buy, and what they say about you. I want to understand your revenue and your audience as quickly as I can.

  3. Easy money first.

I look for the quick wins that are also stepping stones toward the goal we set together, so the work starts paying for itself early, even if it isn't the thing you hired me for.

Sometimes the quick win is already selling.

One client had a product sitting at number three in their sales over the last 90 days, and not a single email or sequence was selling it. People were finding it on their own, so my first suggestion was to start selling it.

Wins like that also teach me how your audience behaves, which makes everything after it better.

You can see your numbers any day.

And you'll hear from me wherever your team already talks.

Every business I work with gets a one-page scoreboard of the three to five numbers you want to know every day.

They aren't only the numbers from my project. For an online store that might be the day's revenue next to ad spend, social and organic traffic, including the channels I don't touch.

I fit how you already work.

If your team lives in Slack, I'll be in Slack. If you'd rather use email, or meet on Zoom through the first month, that works too. I fit myself around you, and all I need is a way to reach you.

I'll ask a lot, early.

The first few weeks are when I learn your business, so expect questions. Once I know how your revenue and your audience work, you'll mostly hear from me with results.

Three ways to work together.

The technology should fit the business. The way we work together should too.

Talk about a partnership

How projects turn into partnerships.

Some people want email off their plate entirely, because they never wanted to do it, or they've done it for years and it's only sort of working. Others start with a project and keep going as the business grows.

I'll tell you which fits.

If I think a partnership would get you to your goal faster, I'll say so early. If a project gets you there, I'll tell you that too.

I aim for ten times your fee back.

That goes for a project and for a monthly partnership. It's the target I work toward, and I can't guarantee it.

What I can promise is that if I can't see a path to it on our first call, I'll tell you.

What's in, and what's out.

Before we start, I write down what's in scope and what isn't, so nobody is surprised later.

My lane is email.
I stay in email marketing and automation. When something needs development work, we talk it through. Sometimes I'll take it on, and sometimes I'll scope it out for your team.
I work in what you have.
Mostly Kit, ActiveCampaign, Omnisend, Klaviyo, RightMessage and beehiiv, plus CRMs like HubSpot and Pipedrive, where I've helped sales teams close more. New tools show up every week, and I haven't met one I couldn't learn.
Roost, when you've outgrown your platform.
If you're past 20,000 subscribers, already running automation and segmentation, and paying for features you don't use, I'll bring up Roost, the email platform I run. It's an option, never a requirement. I don't move anyone if I don't have to.
What you won't get.
A 60-page audit nobody reads, a retainer that pays me to have meetings, or jargon. You'll understand every recommendation and why it's worth the money.

If it isn't working, tell me.

It's all about the relationship. We're people, and people need to talk to each other.

I'd rather hear it.

If something isn't working for you, say so. If I don't know about it, I can't fix it. I'll do the same from my side, and I'll describe exactly what I'm seeing.

Leaving is easy.

There's no minimum term on a partnership. If you're wrapping up, give me about 30 days so I can write the documentation and hand everything over properly.

Tell me what you're working on.

Fifteen minutes. You leave with my first read, and within a day you get the plan in writing. Rather pick my brain? Book the hour.
